Overview Volunteer
Opportunities
The below opportunities are available to individual volunteers,
as well as volunteer groups. Scroll down to see an overview of the types of

Prepare a Meal or Snack
Moonlight Cooking Club (For Individuals) - Bring a few ingredients and
join other individual volunteers to help prepare a meal. We will provide the
menu, recipes, grocery list, and hands-on instruction. Held on weekday evenings
a few times per month from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Friends Cooking Clubs (For groups) – Prepare a meal with
8-10 of your friends or colleagues in your home or our kitchen. Your group
provides the ingredients, and we will provide a choice of menus with recipes,
grocery lists, and step-by-step instruction. Our kitchen is available weekdays
from 9:30am-12pm or 6:30pm-8:30pm and weekends from 9:30am-12pm. If you would
like to cook elsewhere, just arrange the drop-off.

Snacks - Purchase and prepare snacks that will be used for outings,
events and individuals who visit our Day Center. We will give you guidance on
what to include. Then just drop off snack packs during Day Center hours.

Sort Donations
Sort and organize the various in-kind donations we receive throughout the year.
If you like to organize and have an eye for merchandise, this is a great
opportunity for you! This opportunity is available on Wednesday and Friday
afternoons. It is also a great activity for groups.

Assemble Hygiene Kits
Gather supplies or use our own donated materials at DWC and assemble hygiene
kits to be given out to DWC Participants and the community. If you’d like to
host your own donation drive, we’ll provide a list of suggested supplies, such
as hand-sanitizers, vitamins, band-aids, ointment, and cotton swabs.

Coordinate a Drive
Coordinate a drive at your school, office, place of worship, or neighborhood.
Canned goods, women’s clothing, travel-size toiletries, full size sheets, and
many other items are always needed. View our DWC Wish List (hotlink to wishlist)
to get started. Publicity materials are available upon request.

Drive the Ladies to Events or Appointments
Drive the DWC Residents or Day Center Participants to and from events,
appointments, and errands. DWC enjoys many activities as a group, such as
theater and music events, theme parks, and movies—join our staff and enjoy the
event while getting to know the Ladies and providing transportation. Or help
Residents and Day Center Participants get to their appointments safely and on
time by offering to drive them. Get

Manage the Learning Center
Manage our Learning Center, which provides computers, books, and workforce
development classes to the Ladies. Your role may include one-on-one support,
help with computers, or simply being available as a resource.

Assist in the Day Center or Residence
Assist our Day Center staff or Residence Managers by greeting Participants,
answering questions, and performing some administrative tasks. If you are
friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this is a
good opportunity for you. Get

Lead a Workshop
Enrichment Workshops - Share your skills, hobbies, or passions with the
Ladies of DWC. Be creative, we are open to all ideas. Get Started!
Workforce Development Workshops - Conduct a workshop, course, or training
related to job readiness, job skills, or career guidance. DWC is expanding our
workforce development program, and there are many different types of workshops
for which we are seeking volunteers. Contact us to get involved; Allison

Product Development Workshops - Lead workshops to teach Participants how
to make and complete a product. DWC is looking for product designers who are
interested in creating products that the Ladies can make for our Social
Enterprise Retail Store. Product designers will offer a series of workshops to
teach Participants the skills needed to make and complete a product. Examples of
in-demand products include jewelry, candles, and re-purposing clothes, though we
are open to hearing about different product ideas! Get Started!
